When the city first announced LDS Church would be buying a block of Main Street to close down and turn into a pedestrian mall, citizens were assured it would be like any other park in Salt Lake. We come to find out, however, that there will be numerous restrictions, ranging from no improper language to no sunbathing to no assembling. On an unrelated note, Salt Lake police dressed in riot gear and swinging batons recently raided a peaceful "drum circle" in Liberty Park.
